Bilgen Tunçer has been described as an industrial designer and academician, based on her significant industrial professional experience for more than twenty years and academic research on the design management.
In her professional life, she has been collaborating with a wide range of companies from diverse industries such as heating, ventilation and air conditioning, boat/yacht building, aluminium accessories,..etc. as an industrial designer and design management consultant since 2000s. Her clients include companies such as Alarko Carrier, Soluna Yachts and PepsiCo Turkey. Her design philosophy mainly focuses on collaboration with her client’s R&D and marketing departments to develop innovative product designs and consistent product portfolio by exploiting design-driven innovation and marketing innovation for sustainable business growth.
In academy, she has been working as an Associated Professor Dr. at Bahçeşehir University and transferring her academic and professional knowledge to new generations of designers through undergraduate and graduate courses, including “Industrial Design Studio”, “Sea Vehicles Design”, “Design Management”, “Graphic Design” and “Strategic Design.” She has many publications in the significant scientific journals of the field such as Design and Culture, The Design Journal and conference presentations in “EAD” – Paris, France and “Design as a Process” – Bologna, Italy.
She studied Industrial Product Design at Istanbul Technical University and received her MSc and PhD from Istanbul Technical University Graduate School of Engineering and Technology in Industrial Product Design, focusing on various patterns of design management capability development in GVCs, strategic use of design, and the application of design audits.
Her commitment to advancing the field of industrial design has been reflected in her multifaceted approach, integrating research, teaching, and practical application. She is passionate about driving innovation and excellence in design, and she look forward to connecting with professionals and companies who share this vision.
